The Flickr Foundation joins the Digital Preservation Coalition this week, becoming its newest Associate Member.
As Flickr.com celebrates its 20th birthday, it has grown into an online collection of tens of billions of born-digital images (and counting), with their associated metadata. The Flickr Foundation was established in 2022 with the mission to develop and sustain an accessible social and technical infrastructure to protect this unique collection for future generations.
University of Pittsburgh Library System joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes the University of Pittsburgh Library System this week, as they become the Coalition’s newest Associate Member.
The University of Pittsburgh Library System is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and providing access to a wide variety of materials from diverse communities to ensure their inclusion in the global exchange of information and knowledge. Recognizing the challenges inherent in digital preservation and the importance of timely action to ensure their capture and persistence for long-term use, the University of Pittsburgh Library System embraces advances, collaborations, and innovative responses that will assist in further developing standards and practices and continually enhance a digital preservation program.
Western Libraries joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome Western Libraries as its newest Associate Member.
“We are ecstatic to become DPC members!” says Lisa Lawlis, Assistant Archivist. “The DPC are international leaders in digital preservation training and resources. Having access to DPC resources and industry experts in digital preservation is essential for our team to be successful in the management of the bit level health of born digital records in our collections.”
Indiana University Libraries joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes Indiana University Libraries (IU Libraries) this week, as they become the Coalition’s newest Associate Member.
Based on Indiana University’s flagship campus at Bloomington, Indiana, IU Libraries is the largest research library system in the state and serves not only its students, faculty, and alumni, but all residents of Indiana and many researchers from around the world. In collaboration with its many campus partners, IU Libraries have undertaken a number of innovative and ambitious digitization projects over the past few years, most notably the Media Digitization and Preservation Initiative. Nearly 20 petabytes of digital preservation data were produced in this multi-year project that digitally reformatted over 350,000 audio, video, and film assets from IU’s university-wide holdings, many on degrading or obsolete media formats.
The Digital Preservation Coalition welcomes National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences as its newest member

The Swedish Tax Agency has joined the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) this month, becoming the Coalition’s newest Associate Member. Skatteverket, as the Swedish Tax Agency is known in Sweden, is the government organization tasked with the collection of national taxes and administering the population registration in Sweden. It plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability and functioning of the country. Within the agency the digital preservation team is dedicated to efficiently and accurately preserving petabytes of data.
Bibliothèque nationale de France becomes the Digital Preservation Coalition’s newest Member

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), as they become the newest Full Member of the Coalition.
The Bibliothèque nationale de France is one of the oldest libraries in the world and the national repository of all that is published and distributed in France. As the custodian of both national and global collections, the BnF holds 42 million items, including 16 million books, 410.000 periodicals, 950.000 maps, 2 million music sheets, 2 million audio and video recordings, and nearly 50 billion files in its digital repository, equivalent to 8,000 terabytes. Over 10 million items are freely available on its online digital library, Gallica.
ICAEW Library joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Library, as they become the newest Associate Member of the Coalition.
ICAEW is a professional membership organisation that provides training, support, and resources for chartered accountants and students around the world. Founded in 1871, its Library is one of the largest accountancy libraries in the world.
