New Digital Asset Register Toolkit and Course Now Available!

The National Archives (UK) and the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) are pleased to announce the launch of a new toolkit, and related online course, to help organizations develop Digital Asset Registers. A Digital Asset Register (DAR) is a high-level resource that captures information about digital content held by an organization. As such, developing a DAR is an important step towards gaining intellectual control of that content and planning for its preservation.
Call for Applicants: DPC Grant for ARA 2024 Conference in Birmingham

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to offer a Career Development Fund grant to support a DPC Member attending the Archives and Records Association Annual Conference (ARA 2024), taking place 28-30 August in Birmingham, UK.
This grant will cover 100% of the full conference registration fees (includes accommodation) and provide a contribution towards travel. Grant applications are welcomed from DPC members until 07:00 UTC on 4th June 2024.
Call for Applications: ATRIUM Transnational Access Grants

The ATRIUM project invites researchers to apply to participate in Transnational Access training visits to support their research. ATRIUM’s Transnational Access (TNA) scheme offers Arts and Humanities researchers the possibility to apply for a fully funded placement at several different partner organisations to access expert knowledge and advice from leading Data Management organisations across Europe. The available placements include learning about digital preservation, the transcription of historical manuscripts, language technologies and more! A full list is available on the ATRIUM website.
PRONOM releases v.118

PRONOM v.118 has now been released totalling 60 New PUIDs, 67 New Signatures and 72 New Updates. The release notes of the changes can be found here. The container signature has also been updated. Unfortunately we have had to skip from v.116 to v.118.

Digital Preservation for the Arts, Social Sciences & Humanities (DPASSH) is a biennial conference responding to questions relating to digital preservation within the arts and social sciences subject domain.
The conference seeks to address the complexities of long-term digital preservation in the social and cultural realms. It also aims to provide a platform for early career researchers, academics, scholars, cultural heritage and research institutions, as well as libraries, archives and industry to engage with the domain and exchange ideas on solutions.

Call for Applicants: DPC Grant for NTTW8 in Karlsruhe

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to offer a Career Development Fund travel grant to support a DPC member attending the 8th edition of The No Time To Wait Conference (#NTTW8), taking place September 11 to 13, 2024 at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.
This grant will contribute funding to help with the costs of travel and accommodation. Grant applications are welcomed from all DPC Members until the deadline of 7:00 UTC on 4th June 2024, and more details are provided below.
Cerabyte joins the DPC Supporter Program

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes Cerabyte to its Supporter Program this week.
With origins in the Memory of Mankind project, Cerabyte is a start-up business offering a sustainable and long-term storage technology for retaining data. The development of Cerabyte, a technology based on silicate materials, is able to preserve audio, visual, gaming and other formats – as well as text-based data.
