The role
The postholders will each work on a specific externally-funded project/s within the Theatre Collection (2 posts) or Special Collections (2 posts) to make archival collections accessible to wider audiences. Each project will involve a range of activities, including cataloguing, preventive conservation, preservation, digitisation and engagement. The postholders will work closely with colleagues in their team and across the wider Library Service.
Post 1: Pinney archive (Special Collections) – 2 years FTE, with the first 14 months working on the Pinney papers
Post 2: John Addington Symonds archive (Special Collections) – 9 months FTE, or equivalent hours worked flexibly
Post 3: Welfare State International archive (Theatre Collection) - FTE until 31/10/25
Post 4: Forkbeard Fantasy archive (Theatre Collection) – 3 years FTE

What will you be doing?
- You will undertake a full range of collections management activities, including appraisal, preservation, cataloguing and identification of material for digitisation and digital preservation
- You will ensure professional standards and ethics are complied with throughout all processes, including complying with information and rights legislation and taking account of issues around sensitive material
- You will provide professional advice to researchers, students and stakeholders interested in the material and the wider project
- You will work with volunteers, colleagues and external groups on public engagement activities using archival material
