Taking place in Victoria, British Columbia on 15th and 16th September 2025 and featuring a speaker session with Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) President Richard Ovenden, this event is a public launch of the University of Victoria Libraries' new Kula: Library Futures Academy, the world’s first library-based institute of advanced studies.

On Day 1 Richard will speak on the theme of Truth, Knowledge & Society alongside Leslie Weir, Librarian and Archivist of Canada; authors Lawrence Hill, Richard Van Camp, and Esi Edugyan; Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan; Michael Witmore, former Director of the Folger Shakespeare Library; and many others. An optional Day 2 on 16th September will be a professional practitioner's day focused on the importance of digital preservation for the cultural record and citizens' rights.
