#DPClinic October – Preserving Digital Art

To mark the publication of a new Technology Watch Guidance Note by Patricia Falcão on the topic of preserving digital art, we are bringing the community together to discuss this interesting and challenging topic.

The new Guidance Note provides an introduction to preserving digital art, describing the different components that come together to make a piece of digital art, the role of the artist and their representatives, the legal agreements that may be necessary as well as providing an introduction to some of the preservation strategies that may be employed. It is primarily aimed at digital preservation practitioners who have not previously collected or worked with this type of content and intends to provide an introduction to the topic, as well as a signpost to other resources.

This DPClinic session is suitable for anyone who is interested in the topic of preserving digital art, whether they have existing knowledge and experience or are new to the subject. It will include a conversation with Guidance Note author Patricia Falcão, who will be joined by other expert panelists who will be able to share their own perspectives and real-world experiences on the topic, offering advice on how to get started in this field and tips on overcoming key challenges associated with the preservation of digital artworks.

There will also be opportunity for wider audience discussion and Q&A.
