#DPClinic is an informal online space to discuss a popular digital preservation topic. This month's clinic takes place on Friday 31 March 2pm UTC+1 (click here for local times).
The topic for this session will be the Open Archival Information System standard, or OAIS, which is well known as a guiding light of the digital preservation community. But actually, is that still the case? OAIS is nearly 20 years old. We've learned a lot since its inception, but the standard hasn't moved forward at the same pace. So has the digital preservation world left it behind, or does the occasional grumble distract from the value we get from this standard? As our last DPC Clinic on OAIS demonstrated, there are aspects, such as Designated Community, that have not translated well into action on the ground. But how are we actually using OAIS to help us? This DPC Clinic will open with presentations from a panel of 3 different organizations on how they use OAIS, before we dive into a conversation with our audience.
Participants are invited to bring questions, queries and challenges on the relevant topic, as well as stories of what has worked well for them; or alternatively just listen in to the discussion.
#DPConnect and #DPClinic are available to everyone in the digital preservation community, DPC Members and non-members alike, provided all participants are respectful and supportive of one another and adhere to the DPC's Inclusion and Diversity Policy.
